New Song Reveal: "As I Walk in the Spirit"

How one's creativity is expressed is a beloved mystery. Sometimes it takes years of dedication and sometimes sparks fly and develop into moments of fire. This is one of those latter projects. What this might look like in a few years has yet to be discussed, but at least what we have below is exciting!

This song was written under the inspiration of God while reading Galatians 5, specifically verses 19-26 where it reads,

"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other."

As I reflected on the fruits of the Spirit and contrasted them with the fruits of the flesh, I reflected on our everyday experience of stepping out of a reality of death and into a reality controlled by the Spirit, one that gives life, joy, peace, patience and more. Sometimes it feels like we take one step forward and two steps backward, but more often than not, we don't see very down the path. Our faith is required and we are called to simply trust and obey.

We've included the video and chord chart below for reference. The audio is also available on our Sound Cloud (upper left). If you are inspired by the lyrics, music, or scripture portion, leave a comment below or message us.

Keeping Hope

Hey guys, We hope this entry finds you in a posture of hope. As President Snow put it in The Hunger Games series, "Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous." What he knew, and what we all felt when we heard him speak those words, was the truth of this claim. How many stories and heroes do you think would have been ignored by history if they gave up hope of the very best outcome from a really crappy situation? They hoped for something much, much better than what they were experiencing. I can imagine many of them hoping for a paradigm shift in how their people were treated, freedom. Many of them hoped for prosperity amid poverty. Many of them hoped that for a great evil to cease and many more simply hoped that the sickness would pass, so they held on. Many of us may feel like we're living that last one out. That's because we are. Television and cinema always kept the idea of a pandemic in the back of ou...

Training our hearts.

David and I are on this journey of serving within the ranks of The Salvation Army. We are learning so much. We have a lot on our hearts, and that includes you. We will be sharing those things through different mediums. We've been gathering our inspiration and our resources, drawing near to God and now we are ready to spill the beans. During my schooling/training, I've been given assignments that are creative expressions of what we are learning or developing. This is good timing as it's the first year that cadets in this school are expected to complete creative assignments, and I'm thriving in it. It excites me. I've  been able to let go of all internal inhibitions and excuses for not letting my light shine before men for the Glory of God. So having these opportunities for creative expression is like a bonus power you find in a game, right? Think mushrooms in Mario. It's very cool. He has given me talents and gifts and a soul and a song. Now we sing. I'm lo...

Happy Mother's Day @~%~~~~

Happy Mother's Day! Mothers are a pretty important thing. Without them none of us would be here. Feel free to laugh after that previous sentence. It's true. Not only would we not be here, but there are virtues, and character, passions, ethics, manners, romantic gestures, compassionate moments, merciful, graceful, and gentle tones we would not possess as people without the influence of a mother. A mother is simply a non-negotiable, integral part of the most healthy family. If you have a mother who has loved you, shared with you, cherished your successes and mourned with you through the failures then go ahead and hug that woman . Tell her that you appreciate her love and that you thank God for her. Thank her for sticking with Dad through thick and thin, exemplifying covenant and hard work in relationships so that you could see it for yourself. If you were raised by a single mom than give that woman a couple extra seconds of good squeeze. The absence of a father is just as ...
